Plas-y-Wern is an old Welsh stone farmhouse and three self catering cottages, which have been converted from the original stone and slate farm buildings. These are set in a private courtyard and seven acres of grounds, on a coastal hillside overlooking the Marine Heritage Coast of Cardigan Bay in West Wales. The Hayloft and The Granary cottages are both available for self catering holidays, as are our 2 caravans, Plas Bach and Plas Ganol. Bed & Breakfast is also available together with camping and caravanning. Our holiday cottages have been renovated to an extremely high standard and furnished throughout in a country style. They are let on a self catering basis and are fully equipped. The price includes electric, gas, central heating and bed linen. Towels are not supplied. Pets are welcome by arrangement and there is ample safe car parking. Short breaks are available – please contact us for details.
Our accommodation
The Hayloft
The Hayloft cottage is situated in the middle of the courtyard. It has a vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams and A-frames.
The Granary
The Granary cottage is situated in one corner of the courtyard and is where the grain was originally stored.
Plas Ganol caravan
A three bedroom, six berth static. With one master (double) and two twins.
Camping
We welcome tourers, motorcaravans and campers and are listed in the Camping and Caravanning Club.
The emphasis here is on a peaceful country holiday with fantastic beaches. Enjoy the lovely panoramic country and sea views all year round. In summer you can sit out in your garden and watch the sun set over the bay. Plas-y-Wern is situated 8 miles north of Cardigan, half a mile off the West Wales coast road to Aberystwyth. The blue flag beaches of Tresaith and Aberporth are within 3 miles and nearby are the three National Trust beaches of Penbryn, Mwnt and Cwmtudu. Most of these beaches are sheltered, sandy coves and many are connected by spectacular cliff top walks. Cardigan Bay was the UK’s first Marine Heritage Coast sheltering some of the rarest birds and marine life and is home to bottlenose dolphins, porpoises and grey seals. These are regularly spotted from the shore and boat trips are available from New Quay and Aberaeron to see them close up.
Plas-y-Wern is centrally situated for touring and walking. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path and Preseli hills are situated to the south, with the mountains of Snowdonia National Park to the North. The Brecon Beacons and the Cambrian Mountains are to the East, and if you want to go West, why not have a day trip to Ireland and see Dublin?! Winding down is easy here with the leisurely lifestyle and laid-back atmosphere. However, the opportunities are endless to join in the pursuits of walking spectacular paths, cycling, sailing, surfing, sea fishing, bird-watching, pony trekking or golf.
